Photographers all have a problem , how many edits look great on a photo,,, how do you choose without going insane ?

A Ballet dancer entering the modelling world and adding portfolio photos , I did various edits and worked to the models instruction with some aesthetic instruction from myself. I am always pondering over what edit to do and do not like to over edit.

When you take a portrait or life style photograph of someone , get in close . Not with a short lens . I always use a zoom lens so you can slip in and out of ranges as you shoot. This keeps your distance and relaxes the person you are taking the photos of . The use of the eyes is an important part of portraiture , they 99% have to be in focus apart from alternative portraits. Hair , why keep it tidy I always do the lest part of a portrait with ruffled hair it adds interest .

When you have the lovely opportunity to capture someone's soul , make sure their good soul shows through. always leave plenty of time for the project. people get stuck in traffic , get held up and need time for a cup of tea and a biscuit. Time to relax. Give them studio space and do not crowd them. Sometimes the most simple lighting and a relaxed subject works best.
